crawling as a kid,

having walked about in a beautiful way,

I became a youth;

babbling all childish pranks,

uttering sweet-nothings,

I grew up in so many ways

and reached the age of 16.

SivA's scriptures - SivA AgamAs (rules of worship)

and a lot of VEdic scriptures - Your devotees chant these;

I never praised their holy feet nor prostrated before them.

I was overwhelmed by lust for women;

I was grief-stricken

and rambled here and there, the lowly me.

Will You lift me unto Your holy feet?

Samba SivA, who preached 'silence' (as Dakshinamurthy), with

moon, aRugam (cynodon) grass, Ganga river and thumbai (leucas) flower,

adorning His Great matted hair, that Mahadeva,

was embraced joyfully

and His left side was concorporated

The Daughter of the Mountain (PArvathi); (as ArdhanAri)

You are her Son, and

You possess the pure and sharp Spear!

Desirous of circumambulating the entire earth,

You mounted the Peacock

and as You went around, the whole earth trembled!

Oh warrior, You are the brave one, with the anklet!

You are fully present at the Heavenly Abode (MOkshA)

and are known as Murugan; and You chose

the Mount of Pazhani as Your abode,

Oh, Great One!
