இதன் பொருள் : முருகா நீ எனக்கு என்றும் கெடாத ஞான அறிவைக் கொடுத்ததையும், ஆராய்ந்து அறிய வேண்டிய நூல்களில் ஆராயும் கருத்தைக் கொடுத்ததையும், ஒரு வழியில் நிலைத்திராத திரிபு உள்ள வாழ்க்கையில் மயங்கித் திகைத்து தளர்ச்சியுற்று உயிர் அழிந்து போகாமல், ஆசை என்கின்ற கடலைக் கடக்கும்படியான ஆற்றலைத் தந்ததையும், வாக்குக்கு எட்டாத ஒரு நிலையில் என்னை இருக்க வைத்து அருளியதையும், மிகவும் கீழ்ப்பட்டவனான நான் மிக்க கீர்த்தியைப் பெற்று இனிமையுடன் உலகேழும் நானே என்ற அத்துவித நிலையைப் பெற்று கீர்த்தி கொண்டதும் அற்புத வகையில் அமைந்துள்ளதுமான திருப்புகழ் பாவைத் தேன் ஊறிய இனிமையுடன் பாடி, எல்லாத் திசைகளிலும் நான் எழுதி அனுப்பும் பாடலோ, கடிதமோ ராஜ மரியாதையுடன் போற்றிடத்தக்க பெருமிதத்தை எனக்கு அருளிச் செய்ததையும், தந்தருளியதையும், துன்பக் கடலினின்றும் கரையேற முடியாத பெரிய மும்மலங்களும், மூவகைக் குணங்களும், பலவிதமான கலக்கங்களும், எண் வகைப்பட்ட துர்க் குணங்களும், நீர் மொக்குள் நீர்க் குமிழி போல தோன்றி மறையும் தன்மையுள்ளதுமான, பிறப்பு நீங்கும் வகைக்கு ஏதுவாய் இன்பமான நிகழ்ச்சியை – இன்பம் தருவதான வரமதை எனக்கு அனுக்கிரகித்ததையும் நான் மறக்க மாட்டேன்.
That is Arunagirinathar. In the above said way, he explains the experience with himself and Lord Muruga.
AN INTRODUCTION OF SAINT ARUNAGIRINATHAR
Saint Arunagirinathar was introduced to the Tamil world during 15th Century by divinity. The work done by him was accepted by our Tamil community and it was praised by the Tamil Community right from 15th century till date.
It is to be informed that during the life time of Saint Arunagirinathar, Tamil Nadu was not ruled by the Tamilians and it was ruled by the persons who were having different mode of faith and the people who were knowing different languages other than mother tongue namely Tamil. Whereas during the life time of Saint Arunagirinathar, he could see and regret the way of
life led by the Tamil community at that time and he
prayed before Almighty and obtained extraordinary
skill in expressing his opinion with a view to rectify
the human community at large.
Saint Arunagirinathar was blessed by Lord Muruga and the blessing so extended by Lord Muruga was realized by Saint Arunagirinathar and he rendered his service in the form of “Santha Thamizh” (சந்தத் தமிழ்) and communicated the messages which are so useful to the human community and to restore the human community which faced derailment in the field of character, self-realisation, importance of Tamil language and its values.
During the life time of Saint Arunagirinathar, Tamil Nadu was blessed with extraordinary natural wealth and intelligence. Whereas, the Tamil community failed to understand the importance of the life and greatness of their mother tongue and made to derail from the track of truth, character, good behavior and confidence. It is being informed by Saint Arunagirinathar because of the ignorance so prevailing in that community, it has lost it’s importance in the social existence and enslaved to themselves and started to lead a life of ignorance and facing in- fights in the name of faith and சமயங்கள் by allowing his mother tongue to die and compromising with ignorance, diseases, poverty and even death. Arunagirinathar tried to unite and remind all the “சமயத் தலைமைகள்” namely Saivam, Vaishnavam, Saaktham, Kaanapaththiyam, Kaumaram and Souram under one concept by webbing Lord Muruga along with them by highlighting the greatness of Tamil Language.
It is learnt by Saint Arunagirinathar, this Tamil Community was placed in the hands of socially evil forces and ignorance due to want of unity among the community in the name of faith in God. Proper Education was denied to the Tamil Community by the people in power. No doubt famous Tamil poets were there, yet those Tamil Poets failed to educate the people and to render their services to the common people and on the other hand they were very particular to earn fame and name by ignoring the expectation of the Tamil language. Those intellectuals were living around cheap worldly pleasure. There was a fight in between Samayavaatham and Caste Orientation. Not only that the persons in the society who were answerable to the social responsibilities were very perverse and negligent in their duties to be done to their community and society at large. People who were in power failed to respect the social values and fellow human beings to render their service honestly to the betterment of people of Tamil Nadu on the ground of humanity. Not only that the extra ordinary intelligence of Testamentary Oriented believers who were prevailing among the Tamil community were also not rendering their services in preparing the brother community and they were very negligent and indifferent in answering their social duties. Since the people in power were also so ignorant and there were no persons at all to lead the community honestly. Apart from all these things, the people in power were neglecting their duties. On the other hand, they have opted to lead a life of sexual sellers and in consequence of it, the people in power had forgotten their spiritual duties and faced multifarious diseases clubbed with poverty and ignorance. For the bread, they even stooped to the level of allowing other languages to be dominated in Tamil. Ultimately, the community was enslaved by themselves socially and it was further enslaved politically by foreign forces and languages and in consequence of it, conversion of our own people took place in the name of Testaments. Not only that because of the unwanted attitude of the people in those days, they have forgotten the prominence of their mother tongue Tamil and even they failed to understand the expectation of the very birth namely the reinstatement of soul with Almighty and enable the soul to rest in peace.
Having seen such socially corroded atmosphere in the society, Saint Arunagirinathar had chosen and opted Lord Muruga as his Devotional Head and has chosen the concept of Muruga Thaththuvam (முருக தத்துவம்) and he advocated in the form of Thirupugazh. On many occasions, Saint Arunagirinathar believed the divine force headed by Lord Muruga and he believed that the principle that was adopted by Lord Muruga would be the ultimate remedy to redeem the society from the sufferance that was faced in the name of fate. This understanding is reflected invariably in all his poems uttered in praise of Lord Muruga. He used to highlight the innate relationship in between the soul and Almighty in the form of Lord Muruga.
Generally in the first half of Thiruppugazh, Arunagirinathar used to mention the aspects out of which and why the human community was suffering and in the second half he prays before Lord Muruga to redeem the community. Not only that, he used to mention about the personal experience with Lord Muruga and himself. In addition to it, he used to mention about the services rendered by Lord Muruga to safeguard our mother tongue Tamil and greatness of Tamil language. He believed that Lord Muruga would be the only source of inspiration to safeguard the Tamil community from the fate so dominant in the country. Especially he warned the youth not to fall a prey to sexual traders (பாலியல் தொழிலாளிகள்). He warned the Tamil community as against fabricated testament oriented personalities in the name of faith and advocated the concept of true love and affection when we are rendering service. He is of the opinion, if you rendered your service honestly, you need not go in search of God, whereas God will appear within you and further it is stated that this is the actual “தமிழ் மார்க்கம்” which is called as “முப்பொருள் உண்மை மார்க்கம் (பதி, பசு,பாசம்)” and it is mentioned that it is the “சைவ சித்தாந்தம்” which is universal in nature and suitable to redeem the human community. In other words, it is the creed of “தமிழ் த்ரயம் என்ற திராவிடம்”
Arunagirinathar is one of the pioneers of
Dravidian concept. He made a mention about the
reality of the life and its expectation. He is an
extraordinary music exponent in the field of art of music and has constructed in the field of “தாளம்” and erected “சந்த தாள மாளிகை” which is challenging anybody and everybody in the field of music. Even today, so far nobody could reach to this standard in the field of music, especially “தாளம்”.
The information so furnished by Saint Arunagirinathar that he lived more as a **Social** **Reformer** for the people than as a Saint. He is a Revolutionary for Social Justice. Saint Arunagirinathar was regretting for the failure of the human community what they should do as a human beings, while they are alive. Even take it for granted, as expected by Saint Arunagirinathar, he believed that the things so happened eye to eye, yet he believed and suggested a remedy. The things so happened may be in the name of fate and that also could be rectified when we are rendering our services honestly without any expectation and it in turn could be rewarded by way of ‘Mukthi’ by the divine force of Lord Muruga and therefore he accepted the leadership of Lord Muruga and the divinity centering around Lord Muruga and he is praying on behalf of the people and their betterment. Irrespective of the fate, though whatever be the things faced by the community in the form of human beings could be rectified by the divinity of Lord Muruga and therefore he invited the people to go in terms of undisputed faith and belief in the name of Lord Muruga and the main purpose of Saint Arunagirinathar for singing songs by praising Lord Muruga is only to redeem the human community and also to safeguard the Tamil Language and Community and he was very particular to highlight the importance and prominence of Tamil language in more than 100 places in Thirupugazh invariably and he has identified that what are all the elements those who are against the growth of this human community as well as to the Tamil language. Not only that even National poet Bharathi referred Thiruppugazh as “அதிசயத் தமிழ்”. Thiruppugazh is an University by itself. It has not left anything. It is having every information what is needed to the human community just like an encyclopedia of
spiritual science.
Infact there are many spiritual scripts that are available in Tamil, whereas they could not produce such amount of devotees as produced by Thirupugazh. Thirupugazh has produced several followers right from Thayumanavar, Pamban Swamigal, Mugavai Ulaganatha lyer @ Thiruppugazh Swamy, Vallimalai Swamigal, Thandapani Swamigal,Vallalar Ramalinga Swamigal, Siravai Kandasamy Swamigal till Variyar Swamigal. Thirupugazh has purified the soul of several people. Arunagirinathar is of the opinion first of all Tamil community should be so strong both physically and mentally and they should be people of thought provoking in the field of spiritual world. Then only the mother tongue, namely Tamil shall be protected, i.e. if the Tamilian race is stronger enough, then only they can safeguard their mother tongue. He is of the opinion that the Tamil language can be utilized as an instrument to demonstrate wonders of the world what a physical scientist can do so and we can travel all over the world spiritually. He is of the opinion a mother tongue shall pave the way for merger of the Soul with Almighty.
Sri Arunagirinathar netted Thirupugazh by developing the experiences and importance of uttering meaning to the word “omgaram” in Tamil Language to Lord Siva and by webbing the episodes of Mahabharatha, Ramayanam, Sivaragasiyam, Atta Veerattagam, Dasavathaaram, Yoga Sasthram so on and so forth. It is informed that whenever and wherever it is needed just to highlight the ideologies then were tried by him in the form of ‘Santham’ and enable us to understand the services of Thoola sareeram with Sookshuma Sareeram and the mode of adjustment, function and how that could be handled by our human beings to prepare our bodies to elevate the Athma to its original abode, namely ‘Paraveli’ (பரவெளி), which is beyond விண்ணுலகம் i.e. space. Sri Arunagirinathar looks like a spiritual scientist to promote the soul to adorn the body of divine light in the form of “Pranava Thegam”. Invariably he made a mention that what would be the duty of every Athma during it’s life time, whereas on the other hand, the human beings have forgotten their spiritual duties and deviated from the track of character and fallen as a prey to sex. Thirupugazh is a super market for spiritual science. Sri Arunagirinathar made mention about the services rendered by the ‘சமய குரவர்கள்’ namely Thirugnana Sambanthar, Manicka Vasagar, Sundarar, Thilagavathi, Mangayarkarasi and made mention about Kannappar. So far as, Sri Arunagirinathar is concerned Thirugnana Sambanthan is the very incarnation of Lord Muruga who rendered service and safeguard Tamil Language from it’s disaster by highlighting the concept of “முப்பொருள் உண்மை” as the divine principles for the human redemption which is centering around “Saiva Siththandam” namely the ideology of confirmation.
In this context, what I have stated is like an introduction of Saint Arunagirinathar and I would like to invite and request the people to read Thirupugazh, atleast a Thirupugazh per day and try to understand the expectation of Saint Arunagirinathar and seek the blessings of Lord Muruga to safeguard our Tamil Language and qualify our soul to be reinstated in the divinity to avoid death and birth.
